ADMINISTRATION & PLAY GUIDE
Administration
San Marin High School Tennis Courts: Saturdays, 9–11am
Paid Novato Tennis Club (NTC) members only, plus invited guests hosted by an NTC member:
Potential new members may play for one or two Socials to evaluate whether they choose to join NTC. Such visitors should be hosted by an NTC member who makes certain the guest signs in upon arrival.
If not hosted by an NTC member, the guest should introduce him/herself to the Club Manager upon arrival and sign-in.
Balls provided by NTC
Each Saturday there will be a Club Manager who unlocks the tennis courts gate and bathrooms for entry, and locks everything upon leaving; keeps a sign-in sheet of guests/visitors and distributes the Administration & Play Guide to those who need it. Also, calls time for players to switch courts/teams (15-20 mins).
Players may bring folding chairs and refreshments and music if they wish, however, if other players object to music, it will be turned off.
Per Novato Unified School District (NUSD), dogs are not allowed.
Guide
Play consists of Mini-sets of Doubles:
No-Ad scoring
First pair to win three games is the “winner” but play may continue until Time is called.
All four players get to serve, even if one pair wins the fi rst three games.
The pair which achieved three wins fi rst is the “winner,” even if subsequent play results in more total wins by their opponent. • Winning pair stays on the same court, but splits-up (does not play with the same partner again).
Losing pair moves to the adjacent court (toward the school buildings) and splits-up (does not play with the same partner again).
Players choose partners among themselves within this scheme.
Whenever new players arrive, they should warm up on an empty court so they will be ready to play.
Play may begin as soon as enough players have arrived and are warmed up to fi ll two or more courts.
Whenever two additional players have arrived and are warmed up, they are rotated into play next.
If there is an odd number of pairs, the losing pair closest to the school building rotates out. They may continue to hit balls on an empty court or rest while waiting to be rotated in next.
As soon as four members are waiting and are warmed up, a new court is added to this now expanded rotation
